The thing about Patterson books is that they are very easy to read. Short chapters (even though nearly one hundred and fifty chapters to a three hundred page novel is a bit extreme!), easy language to understand, everything is spelled out for the reader. But I'll admit this one had a few twists and turns I didn't see coming. I don't mind picking these up for a quick read on the train to pass the time, but let's face it - Patterson is never going to win any literary prizes. Add that to the fact that the hero, Alex Cross, is a bit annoying and didn't do anything useful until the last page, this one is only getting 3 stars from me, and that's pushing it a little.
